I have often wondered about people living in subway tunnels or under overpasses. It must be a sad way to begin the day and to end the day in such a state. But, what about living under a lemon tree? Wouldn't that be interesting? To wake up in the morning and look at the lemons hanging over your head, fat, yellow things, wrinkled skins, waiting to became detached and land on your head or other bodily part.
So, I lay down beneath a lemon tree the other day, just to see what it was like, and I noticed that ants were climbing the trunk of the tree. Ants in a lemon tree? Who would have thought such a thing. Ants like sweet, not sour, so, perhaps, these ants had strange tastes or had just lost there minds, poor things.
But laying there on the sand and staring up at the sky peeking through the branches I came upon the clonclusion that ants like humans need both the bitter and the sweet in life in order to live and perhaps that is why some of us choose to live in subway tunnels or under overpasses and that is why I choose to live beneath a lemon tree so that I could watch the ants and to marvel at the work they accomplished knowing full well that their individual lives must be quite dull without an occasional shot of bitter among the sweetness that surrounds us all!
